Professional Experience

1981–present: Marketing Consultant.Develop marketing strategies and marketing communications: market analysis, branding, product positioning; market research; creative tactics and communications plans, budgets and schedules to support corporate marketing objectives.

Analyze Web architecture and usability and make recommendations for improvements. Conduct basic search engine optimization analysis and make keyword recommendations. Optimize copy for selected keywords.

Teach best practices for web usability and writing content. (Clients have included CNN.com and the American Electronics Association.)

Create marketing communications materials: brochures, direct mail and space advertising, Web copy, press releases; scripting of Flash demonstrations; trade show materials and exhibits.

Subcontractor, 2006-present: Photoworks Creative Group, Inc., Charlottesville, VA
Write copy for a variety of client brochures. Write employee spotlight profiles for client internal corporate newsletter.

Subcontractor, 1998– present: LeapFrog Solutions, Inc., Fairfax, VA
Analyze Web sites for conformity to usability best practices and alignment with business and marketing strategies, and provide  recommendations for improvements in architecture, navigation, content and design. Clients receive an extensive report that can serve as the foundation for Web site revisions or overhauls.

Before I established my consulting practice in 1981, I worked for the following organizations:

University Park Press, Inc., Baltimore, Md. l979-l98l (An SFN Company at that time) Marketing Manager: Line responsibility for advertising and sales promotion budget of $630K Supervised small staff.

International Group Plans, Inc.,  Washington, D.C.  l978-l979. Project Manager: Responsible for membership development for The Retired Officers Association. (Revenues from this account represented half of company's income.)

University of Maryland University College, College Park, Md. l974-l978. Assistant Marketing Director. Introduced and managed use of college-wide consumer direct mail promotion, the first program of its kind in the country.
